Youth Services Coach (part-time)
About the Role
This is a part-time position located at a local Peoria middle school, running an after-school program for youth ages 10-14. The Youth Services Coach supports Goodwill’s youth programming by helping participants develop skills in conflict resolution, self-regulation, coping strategies, and de-escalation. The role involves one-on-one and small group support, program development, family and community education on trauma and youth mental health, and collaboration with other Goodwill programs to provide a holistic, wrap-around approach.
Schedule
Up to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2 PM to 6 PM.
Pay
$22–$23 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with youth to build trust and teach social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, and coping strategies.
- Manage a small caseload of youth requiring additional one-on-one support to succeed in group settings.
- Respond calmly and effectively to youth experiencing crises using trauma-informed practices rather than restraint or seclusion.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to advocate for trauma-informed care and reinforce behavioral supports.
- Create and maintain behavior support plans, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as needed.
- Collect, track, and report program data to comply with requirements and support continuous improvement.
- Organize and facilitate group or individual coaching on mental well-being, coping skills, and trauma-informed principles.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for youth, families, volunteers, and external partners.
- Represent Goodwill in the community through outreach, networking, and resource development.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training on trauma-informed practices and youth mental health.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor and ensure equitable, culturally competent interactions with all participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program success and participant well-being.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience supporting youth in social-emotional development, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practices.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with youth, families, and community partners using a strengths-based, client-centered approach.
- Works independently, makes sound decisions in the best interest of youth, and demonstrates accountability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or G Suite; experience with database systems preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills to analyze data, identify trends, and develop alternative solutions.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships inside and outside the organization.
- Adheres to procedures, protocol, and Goodwill’s values, including maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule beyond normal business hours.
- Willingness to travel to participants' workplaces, community centers, and other venues.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.

Employment Status
This position is supported by grant funding and is considered at-will employment. While the organization anticipates the role will continue long-term, continuation is dependent on the availability and renewal of grant funding.
