Working Foreman Operations Service Repairperson

Duties and Responsibilities

• Locate leaks in the Water Distribution system
• Shut off and let on water
• Thaw frozen pipes
• Provide emergency service on complaints pertaining to water distribution system
• Perform all safety measures required to safeguard the public
• Remove faulty meters
• Install connecting pieces to restore service on a temporary basis
• Maintain simple records and reports
• Operate truck transporting personnel and equipment to job locations
• Transport and operate compressor
• Excavate and back fill trenches
• Install, repair and replace hydrants, water mains and all other water apertures required in the water distribution system
• May be required to perform duties of a dispatcher of emergency crews at night

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Ability to read, interpret and work from plans and sketches, and to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to keep daily records
• Ability to work physically arduous tasks under adverse weather conditions
• Ability to deal effectively with orders
• Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with Air Brakes endorsement required
