Wellness Clinic Nurse (Per Diem)

Job Summary

The Wellness Clinic Nurse seeks to protect the community from vaccine preventable diseases by providing immunization services to the general public. The nurse assesses the immunization status of clients, prepares vaccines, administers vaccines, and educates clients and caregivers about immunizations.

Key areas of responsibility

• Prepares vaccines for administration according to manufacturer’s instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques.
• Reviews protocols, standing orders, vaccine eligibility, and age-specific vaccine requirements prior to the opening of the clinic.
• Completes appropriate client Immunization Consent forms and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documented.
• Disposes of bio-hazardous waste in the appropriate and prescribed manner.
• Observes for and responds to adverse reactions following vaccination according to protocols and standing orders.
• Performs other related duties as required including but not limited to blood pressure clinics, diabetes and cholesterol screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: Education - Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program, as applicable to licensure.
• Experience: Prior nursing experience in immunization, ambulatory, community, public health, occupational health, or similar clinical setting preferred.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: Active CT LPN License.
• Language Skills: Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions and effectively communicate information in English.
