About the role
This is an exciting project with the University of Leeds Law School. The role involves taking on welfare benefit appeals for vulnerable clients in our locality and representing them at their appeal hearing. You will also supervise and train student volunteers to assist you in your work.
Responsibilities
- Taking on welfare benefit appeals for vulnerable clients in the local area.
- Representing clients at their appeal hearings.
- Supervising and training student volunteers.
- Spending one day a week at the University of Leeds.
Requirements
- Ability to understand the complexities of welfare benefit law.
- Compose concise arguments and present a coherent case.
- Confidence to speak in public.
- Excellent mentoring and people management skills.
- Able to relate to students and identify points of career development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and principles of the CAB service and its equality and diversity policies.
- Able to deal with clients in a sensitive and professional manner.

Pay
The salary range for this position is £25,863 - £27,514 per annum, plus a 5% pension contribution and 36 days holiday (including bank holidays).
