About the role
The Wean to Finish Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing a team of employees and contractors to ensure proper care and management of animals, aligning with Iowa Select Farms' animal well-being policies. This role plays a crucial part in achieving production and economic goals, including production performance, revenue, and cost management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits to ensure proper care and management of animals and compliance with ISF animal well-being policies.
- Execute and implement strategies to achieve production and economic goals, including production performance, revenue, and marketing, and cost management KPI’s.
- Communicate with supervisors and senior supervisors on the size and quality of sites, forecast, select, and mark hogs for market, and observe newly placed pigs when sites are filled.
- Ensure site managers have necessary training, supplies, and tools for proper swine care, work with transportation department on efficient pig flow, and manage the environment and environmental controls.
- Partner with site managers to monitor nutrient storage facilities, troubleshoot ventilation issues, and instruct and train managers on proper swine drug administration.
- Maintain overall pig health, communicate with staff veterinarians and senior finishing supervisors, and administer ISF protocols for site maintenance and pig management.
- Monitor alarm systems, initiate responses for all calls, and assist in hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees in partnership with HR and supervisors.
- Understand and troubleshoot alarm systems, assist in creating routines for passed audits, and assist in strategy development and continuous improvement.
- Ensure attendance and adherence to company policies, including bio-security, safety, and animal wellbeing policies.
- Perform tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 75 pounds, and climbing ladders and gates.
- Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in swine production operations is preferred.
- Computer skills: running reports, data entry, email, word documents, excel documents, and navigating company tools.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders and gates.
- Physical requirements: standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing.
Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of swine production and animal well-being policies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to alarm systems and environmental controls.
- Proficiency in computer software for data entry and report generation.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $XX - $YY per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
