Wean-to-Finish Supervisor - Newell/Fonda/Albert City, IA

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

• Cover site visits to ensure proper care and management of animals and compliance with ISF animal well-being policies.
• Execute and implement strategies to achieve production and economic goals, including production performance, revenue, and marketing, and cost management KPIs.
• Communicate with Supervisors and Sr. Supervisors about site sizes and pig quality, forecast, select, and mark hogs for market, and observe newly placed pigs.
• Work with transportation department to manage pig flow and assist site managers in managing the environment and environmental controls.
• Partner with site managers to educate them on troubleshooting ventilation issues, monitor nutrient storage facilities, and report issues immediately.
• Instruct and train managers on proper swine drug administration, and monitor pig health, communicating with the Staff Veterinarian and Senior Finishing Supervisor.
• Understand and troubleshoot alarm systems, responding to 100% of calls and acting as a backup to site managers.
• Aid in hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees, and promoting safe animal handling practices.
• Educate employees on company production and incentive packages, and ensure they are trained to achieve these results.
• Ensure employees work safely and use PPE as required, motivating them to perform at a high level to achieve production results.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Direct and manage a team of employees and contractors.
• Plan, assign, and direct work responsibilities for others.
• Maintain staffing levels to meet company goals, including interviewing and hiring processes.
• Administer contracts and provide updated training on positions.
• Respond to employee concerns or complaints and handle discipline and termination as needed.
• Conduct performance evaluations and reward employees through positive feedback and company programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

• May require exposure to outside weather conditions, loud noises, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, bend, lift up to 75 pounds, and climb in/out of livestock trailers.

Additional Availability

• Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required.
• Regular travel for this position will involve the use of a company vehicle.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in swine production operations is desired.
• Computer knowledge/skills - able to run reports, data entry, email, word documents, excel documents, and navigate company tools.
