About the role
The Wean to Finish Supervisor leads and directs a team of employees and contractors responsible for animal care, production performance, site maintenance, and cost management. Key responsibilities include conducting site visits, executing strategies to achieve production and economic goals, communicating with supervisors, and managing various aspects of the farm.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper care and management of animals and compliance with ISF animal well-being policies
- Execute strategies to achieve production and economic goals
- Communicate with supervisors and senior supervisors on site size and quality
- Forecast, select, and mark hogs for market, observe newly placed pigs, and assist with transportation
- Manage site maintenance, environmental controls, and alarm systems
- Train site managers on proper swine drug administration and monitor pig health
- Monitor alarms and respond to calls, assist with hiring, evaluate and discipline employees, and assist with strategy development
- Ensure safe animal handling practices and provide feedback to senior management
- Support management in creating routines for passed audits and action plans based on audit results
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have previous experience in swine production operations and possess computer skills for running reports, data entry, and navigating company documents. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.
