About the role

The Wean to Finish Supervisor leads and directs a team responsible for animal care, production performance, site maintenance, and cost management. Key responsibilities include conducting site visits, executing strategies to achieve production and economic goals, evaluating pigs, communicating with supervisors, managing transportation, overseeing environmental controls, instructing on drug administration, monitoring health, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits to ensure proper care and management of animals and adherence to ISF animal well-being policies.
  • Execute and implement strategies to achieve production and economic goals, including production performance, revenue, and marketing, and cost management KPIs.
  • Evaluate wean pigs twice weekly, document quality issues, castrate boars, count feeder pigs, and record quality issues.
  • Communicate pig sizes and qualities to supervisors and senior supervisors, forecast, select, and mark hogs for market, and train managers on marketing.
  • Work with transportation department to manage pig flow, partner with site managers on environmental controls, and educate on troubleshooting ventilation issues.
  • Monitor nutrient storage facilities, report issues, and instruct on proper drug administration.
  • Ensure proper handling and administration of vaccines, monitor pig health, and communicate with veterinarians and senior supervisors.
  • Manage alarms, initiate responses, and assist with hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees.
  • Ensure safe animal handling practices, provide feedback, and assist in creating routines for passed audits.
  • Assist in strategy development and continuous improvement, ensuring attendance and promptness.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should have previous experience in swine production operations and possess computer skills for running reports, data entry, and navigating company documents. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. Day-shift hours are Monday through Friday.
