Job Description

  • Primary Waste Treatment Equipment:
    • Plate and frame filter press
    • Batch Treatment / pH adjustment
    • Vacuum evaporators
    • Granular activated carbon columns
    • Ion exchange columns
    • Reverse osmosis membrane skids
    • Ozone generator
    • pH adjustment system with acids and bases
    • Wet scrubber
    • Associated Waste Treatment Equipment:
      • Air diaphragm pumps
      • Centrifugal pumps
      • Chemical metering pumps
      • Pneumatically actuated valves
      • Manual valves
      • Heat exchangers
      • UV lamps
  • Specifically responsible for (in each focus area):
    • Daily operation and preventative maintenance of equipment handling waste streams that isolate; heavy metals, organic films, salts, and regenerated DI water
    • Hands-on material handling; moving chemical totes/drums (strong acids and bases) and waste streams with a forklift and pallet-jack
    • Safely performing job duties using the appropriate PPE and techniques
    • Operating PLC control panels with HMI touchscreen in accordance with SOP and PMP
    • Maintaining log sheets of set points/parameters for data analysis and record-keeping
    • Gaining an overall understanding of process flow and equipment to perform minor troubleshooting

    Education / Qualifications

    • Interest in obtaining MA 5-C Full Wastewater license.
    • Relevant technical degree or hands-on work experience with industrial fluid flow systems
    • Experience working with a variety of pumps and valves
    • Experience with basic hand and power tools
    • Experience following standard operating procedures and providing useful feedback to make improvements
    • Must be comfortable handling drums and totes of strong acids and bases, as well as other chemicals
    • Hazmat training and experience with PPE
    • Must be willing to occasionally work overtime in urgent situations
    • Able to work independently and be effective in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with electrical troubleshooting using a multimeter is a plus

    Compensation Data

    • Salary Range: $22.50 - $30.00/hour
    • There is a 20% shift differential for 3rd shift.
