Vietnamese - Part-Time Lecturer Pool
About the role
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Vietnamese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Vietnamese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics and/or film.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Vietnamese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics and/or film.
- Teach at least two of the following subject areas: Vietnamese Language, Introductory to Advanced Vietnamese Culture, Civilization, and Contemporary Vietnam, Vietnamese for Business, Vietnamese Literature, Vietnamese Linguistics, Vietnamese Film.
- Hold at least a master’s degree in Vietnamese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Vietnamese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses.
- Hold a Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Vietnamese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Vietnamese in order to teach upper-division (300-level) courses.
- Interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

- Legal right to work in the United States of America.
- Reside in the State of California at the time of hiring.

- Master’s degree in Vietnamese Studies or a related field.
- Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Vietnamese Studies or a related field.
- Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.

Performance Evaluation
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments.
Appointment and Salary
- Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month.
- Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.
- Initial appointments are for one semester only.
- Pay is prorated to the number of units worked and is paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
- For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
