About the role

The Department of English invites applications for multiple, on-going, Lecturer appointments. Lecturers will teach primarily in the areas of composition and critical thinking (with argumentative writing emphasis).

Responsibilities

  • Teach primarily in the areas of composition and critical thinking (with argumentative writing emphasis)
  • Teach literature and humanities survey courses
  • Teach technical and professional writing courses

Requirements

  • M.A. in English or related field is required
  • Demonstrated success in community college or university-level teaching appointments emphasizing writing instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in English or related field
  • Evidence of successful methods and effective teaching in composition and critical thinking courses
  • Evidence of effective teaching in literature or humanities courses

A complete application is required and must include: an application letter specifically addressing the position description and qualifications of the candidate; unofficial photocopies of graduate transcripts; a professional résumé, including the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references; three letters of recommendation; and teaching material for a writing course (i.e. syllabus, one or two major assignments, homework samples, etc.).

Compensation

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About the Department and the College

The English Department at CSU Stanislaus offers a general English BA, as well as a TESOL Concentration, English SSMP, and an English minor. We also have an MA program with concentrations in Literature, TESOL, and Rhetoric of Teaching & Writing.
