English Instructor Pool-Part-Time
Primary Purpose

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND
- Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism OR the equivalent.
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND
- The equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District.

Desirable Qualifications
- Recent lower division or community college teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.
- Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.
- Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with teaching and mentoring historically and socially minoritized/marginalized communities such as African-American/Black, Chicanx/Latinx, Pacific Islander, Native American, women, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.
Special Instructions
- This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.
- This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty. Due to the high volume of applications received, we ask that you do not contact the department directly. They will review the information provided and contact you if you are selected for an interview.
- Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
