Job Description

The North Orange County Community College District is seeking an Adjunct English Instructor at Fullerton College.

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to teach English courses at the college level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts. All degrees and course work used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR
  • Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism OR the equivalent.
  • Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.
  • Demonstrated successful experience teaching dual enrollment (high school/college) English courses.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and supporting special population programs such as Puente and UMOJA with a commitment to their missions of equity, access and student success.

Special Instructions

  • This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.
  • This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
