About the role

The VP, Portfolio Management is responsible for financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents for corporate credit requests. They oversee the credit underwriting process, manage the approval process for lending commitments, and provide guidance to junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze financial data for clients or prospects, including financial spreadsheets and reviewing legal documentation.
  • Model future financial performance and review legal documentation.
  • Structure transactions and assist in cross-selling additional bank products.
  • Monitor accounts and track covenant compliance, earnings trends, and management capability.
  • Manage the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents.
  • Review and maintain legal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Identify potential problem accounts and work with the Asset Recovery Group.
  • Attend management presentations and conduct site visits to monitor business conditions and identify new opportunities.
  • Contribute to or prepare white papers on assigned industry segments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking, and/or financial services experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics, or business.
  • Master's Degree in MBA preferred.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize other technology applications.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
  • Experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities.
  • Experience managing the left lead / administrative agent role in syndicated deals.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and lead work independently.
