About the role
The VP, Portfolio Management is responsible for financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support corporate credit requests, maintaining asset quality within a moderate risk profile, and assisting in cross-selling additional bank products.
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze financial data for clients or prospects, including spreading financial statements and analyzing historical performance.
- Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios.
- Structure transactions in collaboration with Business Partners/Bankers/Relationship Managers, viewed as a value-add financial advisor by the client/borrower.
- Manage the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, including monitoring and reporting.
- Review and maintain legal documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations and certifications.
- Monitor accounts and track financial performance, ensuring data integrity and timely changes in risk ratings.
- Identify and address potential problem accounts, working with the Asset Recovery Group as needed.
- Attend management presentations, bank meetings, and conduct site visits to monitor business conditions and identify new opportunities.
- Contribute to or prepare white papers on assigned industry segments, as requested.
- Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts and Associates as appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking, and/or financial services experience.
- Commercial and Industrial (C&I) underwriting experience strongly preferred.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize other technology applications.
- Demonstrated competence in financial analysis and modeling.
- Experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities.
- Experience managing the left lead / administrative agent role in syndicated deals.
- Ability to lead discussions with clients during negotiations and act as primary lending representative on deal execution.
- Knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements, and ability to work with counsel and collaborate through document negotiations.
- Solid understanding of banking and investment banking products and services, and current market dynamics, trends, and terms.
- Effective and polished presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge with impact.
- Ability to plan, multi-task, manage time effectively, and lead work independently with limited direction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics, and/or business (required).

Benefits
Eligible for a base salary ranging from $96,000.00 to $181,000.00 annually, with potential for incentive compensation including production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives. Benefits include a comprehensive list available upon request.
