About the Team

Elsevier Health applies innovation, facilitates insights, and helps drive more informed decision‑making for our customers across global health. We support health providers by providing accessible, trusted evidence‑based information; prepare more medical and nursing students with effective tools and resources; provide insights that help clinicians improve patient outcomes; and support a more personalized and localized healthcare experience. All for the benefit of every patient.

About the Role

The VP, Marketing Intelligence & Strategy will own the data‑to‑strategy‑to‑content pipeline: translating audience intelligence, competitive signals, and performance data into actionable decisions about what to build, where to invest, how to position, and what to say. This new function will move marketing to data‑driven, insight‑driven programs with systematic translation of market signals into content strategy and investment decisions. The role sits at the intersection of analytics, strategy, and marketing leadership and defines the function from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Marketing Intelligence & Strategy function – the organization’s center for market insight, content strategy, and investment intelligence.
  • Create annual Global Health Marketing plans in partnership with Product Marketing and the Demand & Growth team.
  • Own the unified attribution model: define how marketing investment translates to pipeline, retention, and revenue, in close partnership with Demand & Growth, Product Marketing, and Finance.
  • Synthesize and leverage audience intelligence—including clinician behavior, student learning patterns, institutional buying journeys, and competitive positioning across Clinical Solutions and Education markets.
  • Set content strategy direction – the strategic framework that determines what content is created, for whom, and at what stage of the buying journey.
  • Develop competitive intelligence and market mapping; translate market signals into positioning and investment recommendations.
  • Develop an automation roadmap that accelerates content operations without sacrificing quality.
  • Present strategic recommendations to the CMO and senior leadership; influence roadmap, budget, and org decisions with evidence.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of marketing experience with a demonstrable track record of using data & insight to drive strategy.
  • Deep expertise in marketing analytics, attribution, and measurement; ability to build measurement models, challenge methodology, and translate results into business outcomes.
  • Strong content‑strategy instincts; understanding of how insight flows into content and how content serves the buying journey.
  • Experience building cross‑functional intelligence functions – working with product, sales, finance, and external research partners.
  • Exceptional synthesis and communication skills; ability to distil complex market signals into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Experience with AI marketing tools, personalization platforms, and the emerging landscape of autonomous content operations.
  • People‑leadership experience; built and led high‑performing analytical and strategic marketing teams.
  • Prior experience in healthcare/health‑tech with understanding of healthcare professional behavior and institutional buying dynamics.
  • Experience with B2B and B2C marketing programs; creating multi‑faceted programs for end users and institutional buyers.
  • Experience with advanced marketing analytics platforms (e.g., Salesforce Einstein, Adobe Analytics, Looker, Tableau, or equivalent).
  • Background in market research or audience intelligence at a research‑intensive organization.
  • Familiarity with how AI is reshaping content creation, personalization, and marketing operations, and how to build governance around it.

Benefits

  • Healthy work/life balance with flexible working hours.
  • Wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance, and sabbaticals.
  • Country‑specific benefits (details available per location).
