About the role
At Alton Main Animal Hospital, we're searching for an experienced veterinary technician ready to take the next step (or the next leap) into a leadership role as our Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead from the floor: Deliver outstanding patient care and client service while setting the tone for the team.
- Partner with leadership: Work closely with our Medical Director and Regional Director to ensure the hospital thrives—clinically, operationally, and financially.
- Coach and empower: Train, mentor, and support team members in real time to keep workflow smooth and morale high.
- Delight clients: Handle client communications with empathy, professionalism, and a touch of warmth that makes them feel at home.
- Keep things running seamlessly: Manage schedules, inventory, and budgets with a strategic eye (and maybe a little love for spreadsheets).
- Build culture: Foster an environment where the team feels supported, appreciated, and excited to come to work.
Requirements
- A skilled veterinary technician with strong clinical know-how in anesthesia, dentistry, lab work, and patient handling.
- Proven leadership skills—you know how to motivate, manage, and bring out the best in people.
- A business-minded multitasker who’s as comfortable analyzing metrics as they are calming a nervous pet parent.
- A clear, confident communicator who keeps both clients and the team informed and inspired.
Qualifications
- Experience in a veterinary practice setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for animal welfare and customer service.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
