Utility Locate Technician $24.50-$30.00/hr West Valley City, Utah

ELM Utility Services, with a team of over 1,900 employees nationwide, is offering an opportunity for a Utility Locate Technician in the West Valley City, Utah area. Our technicians play an essential role in their communities, ensuring gas, electric, and communication systems remain dependable and well-maintained through high-quality utility marking to prevent excavation damage.

About the role

Working independently outdoors, you will use your company-provided vehicle as your mobile office to complete a daily route of locate requests. You will accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers. The role requires the use of our mobile work system, LaunchPoint, to receive and manage daily tasks. On-call rotation and overtime may be required, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of locate requests using a company-provided vehicle as your mobile office.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
• Use the LaunchPoint mobile work system to receive and manage daily tasks.
• Work on-call rotation and overtime as needed, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Record check, and background check.
• High School Diploma or GED and at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.

Note: This is a safety-sensitive DOT position that must comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations. The use of marijuana (medical or recreational) is prohibited.
