About the role

This position involves a broad range of responsibilities across data and digital literacy, environmental protection, operational excellence, partnership collaboration, employee health and safety, asset protection, EHS training delivery, risk management, process improvement, influential communication, and transportation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Data and Digital Literacy
    • Articulate the levers that influence data.
    • Ensure data quality and organize processes for analysis.
    • Develop and implement technology changes across multiple processes.
  • Environmental Protection
    • Operate tools and equipment for evaluating air, water, and waste pollution.
    • Support regulatory visits and prepare audit reports for management review.
    • Participate in evaluating pollution control and management at assigned facilities.
    • Assist in integrating environmental considerations into process design.
    • Interpret and evaluate compliance status reports and relevant risk management practices.
    • Assist in developing company policies, practices, and procedures relating to environmental risks.
    • Implement environmental policies and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Explain operational functions and key roles of assigned department or unit.
    • Clarify the role of each department and its relevance to enterprise strategy.
    • Describe interdependence of support functions and line operating functions.
    • Identify primary operational functions of the organization.
    • Locate and read Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and One Best Way (OBW) information.
    • List common tasks and activities performed by operations functions and subfunctions.
  • Partnership & Collaboration
    • Own the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others.
    • Support process updates and changes.
    • Solve simple business issues.
    • Demonstrate functional knowledge of the business unit/organization being supported.
  • Employee Health and Safety
    • Participate in OSHA and other regulatory inspections.
    • Participate in internal safety or health inspections.
    • Ensure all first aid equipment is operational and supplies are current and fully stocked.
    • Maintain health and safety records according to OSHA guidelines.
    • Monitor facilities for safety hazards.
    • Use quality evaluation tools (e.g., walkthroughs, inspections).
    • Apply key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluate impacts on quality.
    • Participate in root cause identification for accidents.
    • Report safety violations and accidents.
    • Implement internal and external audit requirements within assigned area.
    • Create action plans to address audit findings.
    • Validate claim records and work with workers' compensation case managers.
  • Asset Protection & Security
    • Work with tools used for theft prevention.
    • Recognize, investigate, and report security breaches, thefts, and vandalism.
    • Assist in implementing access control procedures to prevent unauthorized access.
    • Assist with installation of emergency and surveillance services (e.g., fire alarms, refrigeration alarms, metal detectors, CCTV).
    • Maintain loss prevention records.
    • Generate standard loss and shrinkage reports.
    • Support development and use of practices for reducing loss and shrinkage.
    • Detect and report incidents of loss, shrinkage, and related issues.
  • EHS Training Delivery
    • Support activities of instructors or learning facilitators in training programs.
    • Manage systematic approaches to solicit feedback from training participants.
    • Utilize organizational training lifecycles and methodologies to support training initiatives.
    • Explain relevant processes and procedures to contractors.
  • Risk Management
    • Produce and interpret common risk assessment and management reports.
    • Identify common technology, security, or financial risks relevant to assigned function or unit.
    • Document key steps of unit-specific risk management processes and associated procedures.
    • Implement or manage risk management for assigned area.
    • Evaluate employee risk awareness and train employees as needed.
    • Conduct risk assessments.
    • Collect and analyze documentation, statistics, reports, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement
    • Define critical workflows for executing key processes.
    • Identify process problems that limit performance.
    • Focus on significant problems to maximize efficiency gains.
    • Surface systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level.
    • Implement methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.
    • Coach team members to develop process improvement skills.
    • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
    • Provide countermeasure solutions.
  • Influential Communication
    • Organize thoughts and communicate credibly and concisely within scope of work.
    • Present to and influence team members and business partners.
    • Utilize relevant data and fact-based information to articulate results and provide recommendations.
    • Actively listen, seek and provide constructive feedback, and share ideas/recommendations on processes.
    • Proactively build a professional network.
  • Transportation Operations
    • Ensure proper completion of documents required by laws, regulations, and safety rules involving materials transportation.
    • Use databases and electronic tools to evaluate the extent of losses and plans of control within Transportation.
    • Understand and ensure compliance with applicable transportation-related laws and regulations.
    • Perform checks and measurements used in transportation management (e.g., vehicle maintenance, HazMat bill of ladings, Compliance Safety Accountability basics, other transportation paperwork).
    • Monitor and evaluate performance metrics (e.g., PCMM, OIR, DOT recordable collisions).
    • Review accident files for accuracy, DOT recordability, and completeness.
    • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments.

    • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties.

  • Data and Digital Literacy: Knowledge of data collection modes, techniques, tools, and data analytics.
  • Environmental Protection: Knowledge of environmental policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Operational Excellence: Knowledge of organizational processes, root cause analysis, department workflows, SOPs, and One Best Way (OBW) processes.
  • Partnership & Collaboration: Knowledge of stakeholder identification, communication, engagement techniques, and management effectiveness tools.
  • Employee Health and Safety: Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, compliance, safety and food safety auditing, regulatory inspection processes, and emergency evacuation plans.
  • Asset Protection & Security: Knowledge of asset protection policies, practices, guidelines, and environmental health and safety laws.
  • EHS Training Delivery: Knowledge of training methodologies, content development, and organizational training lifecycles.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of risk management processes, risk assessment reports, and risk management tools.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to define critical workflows, identify process problems, and implement improvement methods.
  • Influential Communication: Ability to organize thoughts, communicate credibly, present to stakeholders, and utilize data for recommendations.
  • Transportation Operations: Knowledge of laws, regulations, and safety rules regarding materials transportation (e.g., DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, CVSA), vehicle maintenance, HazMat bill of ladings, and Compliance Safety Accountability basics.
