Location & Commitments

Full Time, Part Time, Temporary, and Supplemental roles based at our Greenville location. Schedule includes:

• Monday–Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Weekends: 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Early and late hours required
• Overtime may be required to ensure patient care, task completion, and timely call returns

Supervision

Reports to Clinical Supervisor, Location Manager, and Director of Operations. No supervisory responsibilities over other staff.

Physical Demands

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Frequent standing and walking
• Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 100 pounds
• Normal visual acuity and hearing required
• Exposure to bodily fluids

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations
• Works in a clinic environment with conditions common to urgent care settings

About The Role

Responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates all nursing care based on established clinical practices, under the direction of a physician or registered nurse, and within the framework of office policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers during office visits, physical exams, and in-office procedures
• Prepare exam rooms for clinical procedures and assist practitioners with patient care
• Perform accurate measurement of vital signs, including orthostatic blood pressure, temperature, pulse, body weight, height, and complete appropriate health history questions
• Record medications, allergies, pertinent lab work, pharmacy, and primary care provider (PCP) in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Perform ear lavage, EKGs, wound care/dressing changes, IRIS catheterizations, bladder catheterizations, and UNNA boot application
• Assist with Pap smears and related lab work
• Provide patient education, administer injections, and manage immunizations
• Handle prior authorizations, population health, and care gap closure
• Follow standing orders as directed by department policies (e.g., UA, flu, strep tests)
• Prepare and administer medications via PO, intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous, or subcutaneous routes per provider order
• Order, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinic areas
• Notify patients of lab results
• Answer phone calls and refill medications at the direction of the physician
• Make referrals to other departments and clinics to coordinate patient care
• Disinfect exam rooms between patients
• Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty area safely and effectively according to policy and procedures
• Start, maintain, and disconnect IVs per physician or mid-level provider order
• Act as station floater, including communicating panic lab values to the care team, assisting with same-day requests, and managing desktop tasks for station providers and staff
• Serve as backup for Station Supervisor
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Keep management informed of high-risk situations
• Demonstrate proper cleaning and use of equipment
• Maintain licensure in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
• Practice infection control following OSHA guidelines and office policy
• Maintain CPR certification
• Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance training, and other continuing education as offered by Physicians East
• Adhere to department and office policies

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensure: Must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) and in good standing
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software
• Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with others
• Active listening skills
• Ability to observe, draft accurate narrative accounts of events, and communicate clearly in grammatically correct English
• Strong spelling, proofreading, and editing skills
