About the Role

The College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University is seeking a Business Counselor for the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC). This position assists veterans and their spouses in starting or growing businesses through counseling, training, and referral services.

Responsibilities

• Teach B2B/Reboot training
• Provide confidential business counseling to clients in various areas of small business
• Maintain well-documented client files and enter all client activities in Neoserra
• Instruct other training courses as needed
• Participate in outreach events to promote FSU VBOC
• Develop and sustain relationships with key resource partners and organizations for appropriate referrals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
• All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to and from military installations

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the VBOC program area(s)
• Ability to stay current with developments and trends in area(s) of expertise
• Ability to coordinate and administer program(s)/project(s), activities, and protocols
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to assess and solve complicated technical issues
• Multi-tasking and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment
• Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse staff and student body

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and three years of work experience as a business owner, officer, manager, or program administrator

This position is funded by non-state funds and is time-limited. Continuation depends on the availability of funds. Salary is $59,311.00.
