About the Unit

1 East Surgery Unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, designed to provide high-quality, short-stay care. The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed, fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program, where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills. This makes 1 East Surgery an excellent environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduates eager to build their expertise.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department.
• Learns and implements new policies and procedures.
• Coordinates and schedules patient care activities.
• Assists in the development of staff.
• Contributes to the development of staff.
• Facilitates communication between nursing staff, physicians, and other departments.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
• Assists in the development of staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required)
• OrMSN (Preferred)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• AACLS required within 90 days of hire
• Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred
• 18 Months of acute care RN experience(required)
• Previous healthcare experience (required)
• Experience in stroke and telemetry care areas preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required) OrMSN (Preferred)
• Certification/Licensure: Registered nursing License (Required) BLS required within 90 days of hire

• Experience: 18 Months of acute care RN experience(required)
• Previous healthcare experience (required)

• Charge nurse experience preferred
