About the unit

1 East Surgery Unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, designed to provide high-quality, short-stay care. The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed, fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program, where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills. This makes 1 East Surgery an excellent environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduates eager to build their expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise patient care services staff
  • Ensure excellent patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Ensure extraordinary patient/family experience
  • Interview, hire, develop and retain staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of unit budget
  • Coordinate purchasing and payroll processes
  • Serve as a clinical resource to team members

Requirements

  • 1 year of previous management experience OR 2 years' experience in a support leadership RN position
  • 3 years of nursing experience
  • 5+ years of nursing experience preferred
  • Medical Surgical or Oncology background preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (Required)
  • MSN (Preferred)
  • Certification/Licensure: Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Nationally recognized certification (Preferred): CNL (Clinical Nurse Leader) or CMNL (Nurse Manager and Leader) preferred
  • CMSRN-Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Preferred

Pay

Salary commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are primarily 8 hour days with 24/7 accountability. Some flexibility to meet with evening, weekend, and night shift staff is expected.
