Underwriting Support Specialist
About the role
Under limited supervision, with priority to superior customer service, you will perform duties related to the processing of all new business underwriting activities. This includes handling applications, ordering requirements, following up on outstanding items, and managing application correspondence to ensure quality, productivity standards, and SLA goals are met. You will also assist with daily operational, administrative, research, and project-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Handle support functions for new business casework from one or more sources or underwriting lines of business within GARe, Agenium, Carrier workbenches, or other third-party systems.
- Review and verify PII information, conduct retention searches, load applications, and prepare files for Underwriter review using current and future alternative underwriting technology tools, adhering to distribution and department procedures.
- Comply with OFAC, MIB requirements, and all state and federal regulations, including reporting, correspondence, and Plan F.
- Support clients through third-party vendor systems by ordering and tracking age and amount requirements according to carrier guidelines.
- Generate correspondence (e.g., decline, withdrawn, disability waiver letters, cancellations) and communicate timely with carriers, underwriters, or other points of contact regarding requests, questions, or assistance.
- Provide administrative support to Underwriting, including digital data retrieval, reconciliation, request tracking, and addressing insured issues while maintaining data privacy within RGA and/or client systems.
- Assist with research and project-related work.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2+ years of experience as a Senior New Business Processor.
- Basic MS Word skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organization skills.
- Intermediate investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and be accountable.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Competent ability to comprehend and interpret insurance and contract documents.
- Progress toward FLMI or other relevant professional accreditation.

Pay
Compensation Range: $51,350.00 - $69,260.00 annual base pay, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. RGA also provides an annual bonus plan, and some positions are eligible for participation in a long-term equity incentive plan.
