Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time

Penske Truck Leasing in Lacey is looking for a Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) to deliver vehicles to Penske locations and customers. This role primarily involves transporting box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A holders, moving tractors and trailers. The position may also include assisting the service department with parts and equipment delivery.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations
• Inspect vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by a supervisor

Requirements

• 2 years of driving experience
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
• Valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred)
• Must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently, strong customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude
• English language proficiency (required by federal law, 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable attendance
• Willingness to maintain a DOT driver qualification file, including annual MVR checks, DOT physical, and safety performance history records
• CDL holders must complete a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and comply with FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete a background investigation and drug screening
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and prioritize safety for self and others

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting
• Frequent use of hands to touch, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area

Schedule

• Monday through Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Pay

$23.00 per hour
