Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time
Position Summary
Penske Truck Leasing seeks applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves delivering and returning Penske trucks to locations and customers. It also includes assisting the service department with deliveries and collecting payments. The position is located at 214 Hermitage Avenue, Nashville, TN 37210. Shifts are currently not specified.
Major Responsibilities
- Follow safety procedures while driving to destinations
- Check vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 years of driving experience required
- 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
- Valid Class B CDL required
- Must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
- CDL Class A license preferred
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude required
About the Role
This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income. Work schedules range from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. The role is regulated by the Department of Transportation and requires a current driver qualification file, including an MVR check, DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records from prior employers. Additionally, CDL holders must undergo a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of starting the job and be subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review. The position requires willingness to travel, work the required schedule, and maintain a constant state of alertness.
Physical Requirements
The associate must be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg. The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and the rear cargo area.
