Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time
Position Summary
Penske Truck Leasing seeks applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This casual/on-call part-time job involves moving box trucks up to 26' and tractors/trailers with a CDL Class A license, assisting in the service department, and delivering parts and equipment. The position is available at 1605 Kinsey Rd., Dothan AL 36303, with a flexible schedule from 8am to 4pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with potential for weekend shifts. The pay starts at $18.00 per hour for a CDL A license and $17.50 for a CDL B license, with additional shift differentials.
Major Responsibilities
- Follow safety procedures while driving to destination
- Check vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
- Other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 years of driving experience
- 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
- Valid Class B CDL required
- Must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
- CDL Class A license preferred
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude required
Physical Requirements
The associate must be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg. The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
