About the Role

We are seeking skilled drain cleaning technicians to join our Boston-area Rooterman franchise, led by Vincent “Vinnie” MacDonald. Our team tackles challenging jobs that competitors can’t handle, using top-tier tools and expertise to deliver permanent solutions for customers. This role involves diagnosing, pinpointing, and resolving complex drain and sewer issues using specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and clear severe drain and sewer blockages, including root intrusions and heavy sludge buildup.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment, such as video inspection systems, sectional cable drain cleaning machines, and high-pressure water jets.
• Perform video pipe inspections to identify structural issues (e.g., broken or separated lines) and determine precise repair needs.
• Work in both residential and commercial settings to resolve customer crises permanently.
• Collaborate with team members to deploy the right tools and techniques for each job, ensuring efficiency and profitability.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in drain cleaning, sewer repair, or a related trade.
• Proficiency with drain cleaning equipment, such as sectional machines, water jets, and video inspection systems.
• Ability to diagnose complex plumbing issues and recommend permanent solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to challenging job conditions.
• Commitment to reliability, reputation, and delivering high-quality results for customers.
• Physical ability to handle equipment weighing up to 90 lbs. and work in tight or confined spaces.

Tools & Equipment Used

• Gen-Eye® Video Inspection/Locator System: Used to inspect and pinpoint issues in 2”–10” lines, including structural damage like broken or separated pipes.
• Rodrunner® Sectional Cable Drain Cleaning Machine: A lightweight (90 lbs.), powerful machine for clearing heavy stoppages and roots in lines over 200 ft. long. Can be operated in self-feeding or stationary mode.
• JM-3000™ Gas-Powered Water Jet: A heavy-duty jetter with a 3000 psi, 4 gpm pump driven by a 389cc Honda engine. Features Vibra-pulse® for navigating tight bends and long lines.
