Travel Step Down Unit RN - $3,020 per week

About the role

A private healthcare provider is seeking a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position located within an acute care setting. The role involves providing specialized care to adult patients with diagnoses such as cardiac conditions, sepsis, respiratory issues, post-stent placement, pacer placement, and renal failure. The position requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage acute care for adult patients
• Titrate drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Troubleshoot high-flow oxygen devices
• Interpret telemetry strips
• Work with bedside equipment including vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow systems, vein finders, and bladder scanners
• Float to Medical-Surgical or ICU units as required to accommodate patient acuity
• Competency in arterial lines, reading telemetry strips, and troubleshooting telemonitor issues

Requirements

• Valid nursing license
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented with strong communication skills
• Ability to learn and accept feedback

Schedule

• Night shifts, 12 hours per shift (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM)
• Minimum of 48 hours per week
• Every other holiday worked
• Upfront RTO approval limited to 7 or fewer days within the 13-week contract; no additional RTO will be approved afterward

Unit details

• 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 24
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Focus on patient satisfaction, responsiveness, and communication
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Orientation: 1 day of unit-specific training
