About the Role

A Step Down Nursing position is available in Omaha, Nebraska, within a dedicated unit focusing on adult oncology and trauma patients. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, supporting patient recovery from acute phases to stabilization, with an emphasis on teamwork and compassionate treatment.

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Two days of unit-specific orientation provided

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in a step-down unit specializing in adult oncology and trauma
  • Manage titratable drips such as insulin, Cardizem, chemotherapy, Heparin, Protonix, and others
  • Operate high-flow respiratory equipment, including high-flow oxygen therapy or ventilators
  • Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift reports
  • Float to other medical/surgical or step-down units as required (same level of care)
  • Pass a skills-based exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license (required for submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • Experience on step-down or similar units (preferred)
  • Oncology experience and ONS/ONCC certification (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Charge nurse experience (preferred)
  • Comfort with Epic EMR system and IV pumps
  • No artificial nails permitted
  • Valid driver’s license (to validate radius restriction)

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
