Responsibilities
- Provide direct post-anesthesia nursing care for patients in PACU, across applicable age groups, assessing recovery status and stabilizing vital functions
- Maintain airway, hemodynamics, pain, nausea, and other recovery parameters; implement care plans per medical orders and patient needs
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers and surgical teams to optimize the patient’s recovery trajectory and prepare for safe discharge or transfer
- Administer medications per orders, manage IV access, and document interventions accurately in the electronic health record
- Prepare patients and families with discharge instructions, and participate in teaching about post-operative care and precautions
- Maintain safety, infection control standards, and regulatory compliance throughout the shift
Requirements
- California RN license (active) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required at time of hire
- PALS certification within 1 year of hire and IV Sedation within 6 months of hire
- Demonstrated competency in dysrhythmia during orientation (for all departments except Obstetrics/NICU)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in the field; ability to work in a PACU environment
- BSN degree preferred; ADN accepted with relevant PACU acute care experience
- Proficiency with electronic health records; EPIC experience is preferred
