Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Overview
This travel assignment starts 08/03/2026 for an estimated 13 weeks with guaranteed 40 hours per week. Shifts are 4x10-hour rotating, and the role includes weekend coverage.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the PACU for post-anesthesia recovery, including continuous monitoring of vital signs, airway management, pain control, and hemodynamic stability; respond promptly to changes in patient status and implement appropriate interventions
- Perform pre-operative assessments for surgical patients and occasional pre-op assessment for GI procedures; coordinate with anesthesia and surgical teams to optimize patient readiness
- Document patient care in EPIC EMR, including assessments, medications, analgesia orders, and postoperative progress; ensure accurate, timely charting and compliance with policies
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient handoffs and transitions to appropriate units; support a smooth perioperative workflow
- Float to Med/Surg and Critical Care as needed; complete assignments safely and maintain high standards of patient care during staffing fluctuations
- Adhere to BLS guidelines and trauma center protocols; monitor for potential complications in the PACU and escalate to the anesthesia team or surgeon as required
Requirements
- Current California Board of Registered Nursing license (RN)
- BLS certification
- EPIC EMR experience (current CPREPIC EMR experience)
- Prior travel assignment experience is desired
Desirable
- Certified Peri-Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)
- Certified Ambulatory Peri-Anesthesia (CAPA)
About the Role
The position covers Pre-Op and Post-Op care for surgery patients and occasional Pre-Op care for GI patients in a Level II Trauma center setting.
