Travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Med Surg at an acute care facility in Pocatello, Idaho. Start date: 08/17/2026.
About the role
This position is in a 48-bed adult/geriatric Med/Surg/Telemetry unit. The role requires travel experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics, including patients with sepsis, respiratory failure, post-op needs, AKI/renal issues, trauma, GI conditions, and isolation precautions.
- Monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, administer medications (including insulin and blood products), perform IV starts, and manage vascular access.
- Support post-op and specialty care tasks such as chest tubes, drains, wound care/Wound Vac, neuro/thoracic monitoring, and dialysis pre/post care.
- Respond to rapid changes in patient condition, including ABG interpretation, hemodynamic assessment, and use of the rapid response/code team.
- Maintain charting in Epic, document care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, Interpretation, Radiology, Transport).
- Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, CIWA/substance withdrawal management, and safety protocols.
- Participate in team huddles and escalation processes.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Idaho or a Compact state, in hand at submittal.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience preferred; travel experience required.
- Level II trauma experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Epic charting; competency in Med/Surg and telemetry care.
- Ability to perform IV starts, wound care, drains, and post-op monitoring.
- Ability to work Nights, 3x12-hour shifts; comfortable floating to other units as competencies permit.
- Local candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the assignment location.
- Onboarding and start-up: core items/labs completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
- 1 pre-approved time off per contract.
Pay
Weekly pay: $1,630–$1,730 per week. Guaranteed hours: none.
Schedule
Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts. Contract duration: varies (weeks).
