About the role
Short-term acute care setting focused on maternal/newborn care with potential cross-training to Med/Surg and EICU as needed. Travel assignment with dedicated support from Healthforce Healthcare LLC.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients; complete initial histories and develop patient-centered care plans
- Appropriately triage patient concerns and monitor labor progression; manage induction and cervical ripening
- Administer medications accurately and respond to obstetric emergencies (e.g., prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery)
- Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring; recognize when higher-level care is required
- Assess and manage pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes
- Assess newborn status, recognize needs for heightened surveillance, perform neonatal resuscitation within scope, monitor for sepsis, hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice; provide newborn education to families
- Communicate effectively with the patient’s care team and involve families in care decisions; perform other duties as requested
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin Registered Nursing license
- Education: two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred
- Certifications: AHA BLS within 1 month of hire; NRP within 6 months; STABLE within 1 year; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 1 year
- OB/maternal-newborn nursing experience preferred; cross-training to Med/Surg/EICU as needed
- Ability to work in a labor and delivery/maternal-newborn setting and participate in unit cross-training as required
Pay
Weekly pay ranges from $2,052 to $2,085.
Schedule
- Guaranteed 32 hours per week
- 3×12 rotating schedule including night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and weekend rotation
