Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department for patients across all ages, including triage, assessment, prioritization, and ongoing monitoring
- Perform appropriate interventions, administer medications, and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician direction
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to manage life-threatening emergencies and ensure patient safety, comfort, and timely escalation when needed
- Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and referrals for follow-up care; document care in the electronic health record accurately
- Maintain infection prevention practices, safeguard privacy, and participate in performance improvement activities within the ED environment
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members; update patient status and care plans while maintaining a healing, compassionate environment
Requirements
- Active New York RN license (NYS RN Licensure)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated proficiency
- Minimum of 2 years ED acute care nursing experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED setting with rotating day/night shifts during holiday rotations
Education
- nursing degree from an accredited program (RN)
