Overview

Registered Nurse - Med Surg position in Bethel, Alaska. Start date 08/18/2026 for 13 weeks. Guaranteed hours 32 per week with a rotating day and night shift. Weekly pay range: $2,150–$2,172 per week.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Care for patients across the lifespan—from birth to elderly—including post-surgical and behavioral health patients; apply age-specific considerations and culturally competent care
  • Collaborate with other professionals and supervise unit support staff (e.g., unit secretaries and PCTs) in conjunction with the Charge Nurse; maintain flexibility with a rotating schedule and independent action within prescribed limits
  • Support and participate in behavioral health patient management using therapeutic communication; demonstrate proficiency in managing acutely ill or behavioral health presentations

Requirements

  • Licenses and certifications: Current Alaska Registered Nurse license in good standing; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NV-CIT) certification
  • Education: Graduation from a NLN-approved nursing program; new graduates accepted
  • Experience: New graduates accepted; pediatrics and adult patient experience preferred
  • Additional requirements: Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg setting with rotating day/night shifts; proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination may be required
  • Competence: Ability to perform nursing duties, document actions accurately, and interpret clinical data; willingness to obtain and maintain required competencies for this position
