Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for adult and older adult patients on a Med Surg unit, including trauma patients, with medications ordered by the physician (including heparin drips and other acute medications)
- Assess patients, monitor responses to treatment, administer medications, and document in the patient’s medical record per unit policy
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, case management, and rehabilitation teams; participate in rounds; support discharge planning and patient/family education
- Utilize unit equipment such as gait belts, geriatric chairs, and available PT equipment to assist with mobility, safety, and rehabilitation goals
- Maintain patient safety, follow infection control practices, and respond to clinical emergencies as part of the multidisciplinary team
Requirements
- Active registered nurse (RN) license; current licensure in the United States (Georgia or appropriate multi-state licensure)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Documented Med Surg and telemetry experience; trauma patient care exposure preferred
- Ability to manage multiple acutely ill patients, administer acute medications, and monitor complex therapies
- NICHE training a plus
- Willingness to work on-site in a hospital Med Surg setting; ability to adapt to unit routines and patient needs
- EPIC EMR experience is not required to apply; must be able to document per unit protocol
