Overview
A Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) position in a hospital setting in Bakersfield, California.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within an assigned Med Surg unit
- Assess patient needs with ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains; address nutrition, pain, education, and advocacy
- Develop a goal-directed plan of care, prioritizing updates and involving the patient/family in planning
- Implement, monitor, and adjust care plans; document changes succinctly and accurately in the electronic medical record
- Cookordination with the health care team, delegate duties, and support orientation/training of staff and students
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about plan of care and participate in discharge planning and patient advocacy
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and unit policies; maintain required competencies, licenses, and education as required
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Med/Surg nursing experience is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Med Surg setting and use an electronic medical record system
- Willingness to work nights and 12-hour shifts
- Ability to meet vaccination and regulatory requirements as applicable
