About the Role
A Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position is available in a healthcare facility in Weirton, West Virginia. This role involves caring for adult patients with a variety of diagnoses, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleeding, alcohol withdrawal, and falls or weakness. The position requires adaptability to rotate between day and night shifts to support operational needs.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Weekends as scheduled
- Scheduled days off vary based on staffing needs
- Every other weekend work
- Potential holiday rotation participation
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling permitted
- No call or standby requirements
Duration: 13 weeks
36 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Monitoring vital signs, blood glucose meters, and electrocardiograms
- Applying heart monitors
- Assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning patients
- Troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment such as ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP (monitoring typically performed by respiratory therapists)
- Floating to other medical-surgical units or intermediate care units as needed
Nursing staff will manage patient care within nurse-to-patient ratios that can range from 1:5-7 during day shifts and 1:6-8 during nights.
Requirements
- Valid registered nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to work in the United States
- No minimum years of experience required; candidate must have either one year of experience or be willing to accept first-time traveler roles
- Copy of unexpired driver’s license required at submission
- Licensing verification must be disclosed at the time of submission
Orientation includes one day of unit education and one day with a preceptor.
