About the role
Bring your customer service skills to the Hillsboro DMV as a bilingual transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, and issuing permits and license plates. We provide the training you need to make decisions using vehicle laws, agency policies, and regulations. This position requires the ability to speak and read Spanish fluently.
Responsibilities
- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
- Administer, correct, and explain driver license tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- Stand for extended periods, work in inclement weather, work an irregular schedule, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy (a typing assessment will be conducted at the time of interview for selected candidates).
Requirements
- Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving in-person or phone interactions, providing information about services/programs, or explaining/applying rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months of experience collecting money and making change.
- Completion of an associate’s degree may substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
- Valid US driver license and acceptable driving record (driving is an essential function of this position).

Pay
Non-PERS monthly salary range: $3,952 – $5,458.
