Transportation Services Representative 1 (Bilingual Arabic)
About the role
The Transportation Services Representative 1 (Bilingual Arabic) position at the Oregon Department of Transportation's Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / Sunset Region in Beaverton is seeking a bilingual individual to assist the public with various DMV services.
Responsibilities
- Assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates.
- Administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers.
- Ensure correct fees are collected.
- Provide information about regulations and policies.
- Administer behind-the-wheel drive tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
Requirements
The position requires the ability to speak and read Arabic fluently. Must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. Must have two years of public contact/customer service experience, experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data, and three months experience collecting money and making change. Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
