About the Role

Responsible for the administration, safe operation, custody, and maintenance of the self-help program within the auto crafts center. Provides technical assistance and training to patrons in self-help automotive repairs, ranging from simple to complex tasks including engine and transmission overhauls and bodywork.

Responsibilities

  • Inform patrons of shop policies and provide instruction on the safe and efficient operation of equipment and tools.
  • Provide individual and class instruction to military personnel and other eligible patrons.
  • Develop lesson plans and prepare training aids and other instructional materials.
  • Plan publicity and recommend acquisition of new equipment.
  • Compile data for reports and write reports as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to employees; train new employees and direct work.
  • Collect fees and safeguard funds and equipment.
  • Order equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (www.sss.gov).
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2.
  • May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
