Key Responsibilities
- Instruct courses in automotive technology, including engine repair, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, heating/air conditioning, and diagnostics.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with industry standards (ASE/NATEF) and school objectives.
- Incorporate both classroom instruction and hands-on lab/shop experiences.
- Assess student progress through tests, projects, and practical demonstrations.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students.
- Promote safety, professionalism, and work ethics in the shop environment.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (e.g., ASE).
- Encourage career readiness skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
- Maintain and update training equipment, tools, and instructional materials.
- Collaborate with local employers, advisory boards, and industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs.
- Stay current with automotive technology trends and integrate them into instruction.
- Participate in recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives.
Qualifications
- Teaching certification/licensure as required by state regulations.
- Experience: Minimum 3--5 years of professional automotive repair/service experience. Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.
