About the role
WyoTech is seeking a passionate Automotive Instructor committed to both student success and the continued growth of our organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong industry knowledge and a team-oriented mindset, working collaboratively with a group of dedicated professionals to train the next generation of automotive technicians. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required. We value real-world expertise and a genuine desire to make an impact in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Comprehend and apply the contents in the Employee Handbook and Student Handbook
- Adhere to and ensure the enforcement of WyoTech policies and procedures
- Administer all academic policies and procedures
- Accurately complete all necessary documentation promptly
- Complete as directed all responsibilities involving submission of grades, tests, attendance, and all other designated materials to the Registrar
- Communicate effectively with faculty and staff campus-wide
- Read through the instructor's critiques on a quarterly basis
- Be conversant in and support EPA and safety procedures
- Maintain and attend to the repair of class equipment and tool inventory
- Attend regularly scheduled instructor meetings
- Attend graduation and registration
- Participate in curriculum development
- Develop a professional rapport with the students
- Encourage students to ask questions
- Demonstrate patience in answering repetitive questions
- Encourage motivation and enthusiasm in the shop and classroom
- Encourage student interest and attentiveness
- Display enthusiasm for the subject matter
- Maintain eye contact with students
- Make students aware of professionalism infractions
- Encourage students to do safe, quality work
- Stress safety precautions
- Hold necessary review classes
- Prepare adequately for class and shop prior to start time
- Have supplemental teaching items ready
- Always monitor the class
- Remain in control of the class throughout the lesson
- Explain the requirements for each lesson completely
- Establish a feeling of need; create interest, and clearly state lesson objectives in lesson introductions
- Challenge the students to do their best
- Use appropriate teaching methods to accomplish objectives
- Follow the lesson plan, summarize the lesson, and stay on the subject being taught
- Provide appropriate information, resources, and assignments for a lesson (text, reference books, information sheets)
- Work with and utilize the CANVAS LMS system to update presentations and delivery information
- Demonstrate items to strengthen student understanding
- Demonstrate competency in teaching
- Objectively apply all evaluations
