Automotive Instructor

Essential Duties

  • Provide classroom and hands-on automotive instruction aligned with industry standards and program requirements.
  • Develop and prepare lesson plans, instructional activities, assessments, and training materials.
  • Recommend curriculum changes and supplemental instructional resources when appropriate.
  • Administer and grade tests and other assessments.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, progress, and performance records.
  • Update Training Achievement Records accurately and promptly to document student progress.
  • Select, adapt, and modify instructional resources to support students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, abilities, and support needs.
  • Manage the classroom and shop environment while providing students with individual tutoring, coaching, evaluation, and assistance.
  • Motivate and counsel students regarding behavior, training performance, personal concerns, and study habits.
  • Evaluate and supervise students participating in on-the-job training experiences.
  • Provide hands-on automotive activities for students participating in the Career Preparation Period.
  • Model appropriate workplace behavior and professional standards.
  • Mentor students and reinforce positive behavior through consistent coaching and appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom and shop environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive technology, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management.
    • Ability to provide engaging classroom and hands-on technical instruction.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills.
    • High energy and the ability to motivate and engage students.
    • Ability to use varied teaching methods and instructional formats to meet different learning needs.
    • Ability to respond effectively and professionally to student concerns and behavioral issues.
    • Ability to quickly learn and apply Job Corps instructional methodologies, policies, and practices.
    • Strong organizational, assessment, and recordkeeping skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and similar computer applications.

      Certification Requirements

      • Must hold any certification, license, or accreditation required by the state or federal government for this position.
