About the role

VOA, a Certified Great Place to Work, is recruiting for a full-time, swing shift Facility Assistant position at The Village on Sage Street in Reno, Nevada. The Village primarily serves working people earning minimum wage or those with other income sources such as social security or disability, offering low-income housing options.

Responsibilities

  • Explain program rules and regulations to tenants and facilitate their observance.
  • Provide “awake” shift coverage and maintain grounds security at all times.
  • Conduct hourly safety and security checks during designated periods.
  • De-escalate a crisis before it develops and respond to the problem appropriately, providing emergency assistance to tenants and co-workers as necessary.
  • Maintain daily reports to provide statistical information.
  • Perform housekeeping, janitorial, and other maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Respond to all tenant questions and concerns.
  • Perform clerical duties on shift, such as answering the telephone, recording messages, and filing as necessary.
  • Maintain clear, thorough, routine communication with all tenants.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to lockouts.
  • Assist with tenant leases and the community.
  • Support Volunteers of America staff in implementing policies and procedures.
  • Role model positive behavior.
  • Responsible for all areas of daily program maintenance in compliance with company policies.
  • Document and report all tenant concerns and/or infractions that can impact the program’s security.
  • Complete all shift logs, observation logs, and incident reports.
  • Maintain an above-average working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards to ensure a safe work environment for tenants and personnel.
  • Responsible for self-development. Continually learn and enhance technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Attend staff meetings/assigned training and complete required certifications, such as CPR, First Aid, etc.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and be flexible.
  • Computer skills required.
  • CPR and First Aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, re-certification as necessary, and TB testing annually.

Pay

USD $21.17 - USD $21.17 /Hr.

Schedule

The Facility Assistant works a swing shift schedule of 400 pm - 1200 am Wednesday - Sunday.
