About the role
VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a fast-growing, 24/7 specialty and emergency/critical care hospital seeking a full-time ER/ICU Technician Assistant. The position is located at 16756 SE 82nd Dr, Clackamas, OR 97015. The compensation is $21 - $29/hr, and the schedule is Thursday through Saturday from 12pm to 12am.
Responsibilities
- Triage of emergency cases
- Collecting laboratory samples such as: blood, urine and feces
- Processing laboratory samples in-house
- Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
- Helping clients through the euthanasia process
- Answering multi-line telephones
- Managing medical records, reports and correspondence
Qualifications
- At least one year of veterinary experience
- A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Excellent listening and communication skills: both verbal and written
- Compassion for pets and people--as well as awareness, understanding and respect for others' choices
- Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action
- The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
- The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- The ability to be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste
