Swing Shift Technician Assistant

About the role

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a fast-growing, 24/7 specialty and emergency/critical care hospital seeking a full-time ER/ICU Technician Assistant. The position is located at 16756 SE 82nd Dr, Clackamas, OR 97015. The compensation is $21 - $29/hr, and the schedule is Thursday through Saturday from 12pm to 12am.

Responsibilities

• Triage of emergency cases
• Collecting laboratory samples such as: blood, urine and feces
• Processing laboratory samples in-house
• Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
• Helping clients through the euthanasia process
• Answering multi-line telephones
• Managing medical records, reports and correspondence

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary experience
• A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
• Excellent listening and communication skills: both verbal and written
• Compassion for pets and people--as well as awareness, understanding and respect for others' choices
• Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action
• The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
• The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• The ability to be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste
