About the role
This is a temporary position (4 months or less) paying $17.00 per hour. Employment starts May 1, 2026, through October 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Absorb and transport hunter-harvested deer and elk heads for CWD testing.
- Collect data, payment, and samples for CWD testing.
- Drive relay routes to transport hunter-harvested deer and elk under all weather conditions.
- Train on removing tissue samples for CWD testing and performing mandatory inspections.
- Support education programs such as school programs, fishing clinics, youth environmental education, and hunting clinics.
- Assist with volunteer trainings and data entry for the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Provide customer service at the Southeast Region office, including selling wildlife and park products and maintaining customer records.
- May be required to collect CWD samples and perform animal checks.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to interact positively with the public in various situations.
- Weekend and evening work is required.
- Hunting and fishing experience helpful.
Qualifications
- Basic requirements include a valid driver’s license, ability to work outdoors, and positive public interaction skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
- Experience with MS Office Suite, Google Applications Suite, and cash handling is preferred.
- Students or recent graduates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
