TEMPORARY Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator – Blue Mesa Reservoir

About the role

This is a temporary position starting at $19.00 per hour and is anticipated to not exceed 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Blue Mesa Reservoir near Gunnison, Colorado.
• Inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
• Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats.
• Report directly to the boat ramp.
• Participate in boat inspection training.
• Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early morning, and late evenings.
• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent customer service experience working with the public desired.
• Reliable and timely.
• Able to self-motivate and work independently.

Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
• Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position.
