TEMPORARY Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator – Loma Port of Entry

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.25-$19.00 per hour. Employment starts 03/08/2026 through 10/31/2026.

Responsibilities

• Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Loma Port of Entry near Loma, Colorado.
• Inspect boats entering the State of Colorado, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
• Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting or returning to Colorado.
• Report directly to the inspection station. Boat inspection training will be provided.
• Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late evenings.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Reliable and timely.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age or older.
• Current and valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Willing and able to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
• Experience performing boat inspections and decontaminations.
• Experience working with the public in a customer service-related field.

Benefits

The position is temporary and pays $18.25-$19.00 per hour. Employment is anticipated to not exceed 9 months.
